Summary

  1. I would rate my web savviness at a 7/10. I feel like I have a better understanding of multiple web 2.0 applications and their purposes... but to reach the guru level I will need to spend more time using each.
  2. Betty Blogger school definitely met my expectations!
  3. I can't say that I found Betty Blogger challenging- the explanations and instructions for each technology were clear and easy to follow.
  4. I enjoyed the self directed learning model. I prefer to learn at my own pace.
  5. I would certainly recommend the program if it was run again.

Library Thing

My books

I like the concept of library thing. However I think I could just as easily use bibliocommons for the same purposes.

I might investigate the site further to see if Library Thing has features that bibliocommons does not which I would use.

RSS Feeds

I subscribed to the Home Globe and Mail and NPR Music feeds.

I found Google Reader quick and easy use. The video was helpful.

I will continue to use google reader. Like twitter, I like to be able to quickly check what's new.

Wiki

I will be brining chips with a cream cheese and salsa taco dip.

I found the Wiki easy to use. I might use it to make group plans, but I currently use facebook or gmail to do so.

Picasa

The tags assigned to the photo I chose were:
  • Anonymous
  • Bicycle
  • G600
  • KonicaMinolta
  • Road
  • Snow
I really liked Picasa. I especially liked that you could add a link to map quest to show exactly where your photo was taken. I will likely continue to use Picasa as I think it is a great way to privately share photos with friends and family.

Twitter

I found twitter to be more useful than I thought it would be. I personally do not think I will use the tweeting feature- but I think I will find it useful to follow companies or organizations to get quick updates on what is new. I would be much willing to follow a group on twitter than handout my email for a mailing list. I will continue to use twitter after the program but I cannot see myself tweeting.

Tagging

The websites I bookmarked were:

1. Idlers on CBC Radio :
http://radio3.cbc.ca/#/bands/Idlers

TAGS: Music and CBC

2. NPR Tiny desk concerts:
http://www.npr.org/series/tiny-desk-concerts/

TAGS: Music and Live

I might continue to use Dingo. I don't use an i pad or multiple computers- so I feel it would not be as useful for me. The concept is great for people who have the need to access information they have gathered at any given time.

Streaming

http://youtu.be/1HDqhmf7xkw

I enjoyed the Youtube experience. I was shown this video on another site and loved it. By finding the video on youtube I was able to see other videos that the user has posted.

I think streaming has become popular because you are able to quickly access video, music or any information. As well- sites like youtube have given people a global platform on which to express their thoughts.

I'll continue to use youtube.

Web 2...somewhat newbie?

I'm fairly new to most social media applications- I'm a non twitter user, but long term facebooker, and newish blogger. I'm looking forward to using all the different applications I've heard of but long been avoiding!
